The Earth, our environment, and its sustainability are very important to the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood. We participate in many activities and committees that have the environment at the heart of their mission. The Sisters host an annual Earth Day Clean Up on their grounds, the first Saturday in April, and recycling is a year-long project. The Sisters are also a member of the Intercommunity Ecological Council, IEC, started in 2001. The IEC consists of representatives from 15 women religious congregations and representatives from one male congregation, as well as an ecozoic center. IEC collaborative ministry flows from a commitment to eco-spirituality which sees all creation as sacred. They are called to act individually and communally with justice to promote a sustainable healthy environment for all species.
